Join renowned naturalist, Ken Chaya, to discover the wonders of nature in Morningside Park. We will continue to look for migrant Songbirds and Raptors such as Hawks, Vultures and Falcons in the skies overhead. We will listen for the sound of Songbirds calling and Woodpeckers drilling for sap and insects. We will observe the late-blooming flowers such as Asters and Goldenrod and also look for fall fruit such as Acorns, Apples, and Berries. You will learn about the importance of native plants and diversity in a heathy urban ecosystem. Perhaps some Turtles will still be sunning themselves and if we are lucky, a Heron or Egret may be joining them at the water’s edge. And we will keep a lookout for leaves turning color.
Children must be accompanied by an adult, be prepared to walk, and wear closed-toe shoes. Binoculars are recommended but not required. There are no rain dates. Only in the case of heavy rain or thunderstorms will the event be rescheduled.
This program is underwritten by The Morningside Park Conservancy. Tickets are Free but we ask you to register so we are adequately staffed. We look forward to seeing you in the Park!
