Join renowned naturalist, Ken Chaya, to discover the wonders of nature in Morningside Park. At this time of year, many neotropical songbirds such as Warblers, Vireos, and Tanagers can be observed as they pass through NYC, making their way South to their wintering grounds. Certain species of butterflies such as Monarchs, Red Admirals, and Buckeyes are also migrating South and may be spotted in NYC. We will be looking for both birds and butterflies as well as other signs of urban nature on this walk.
Children must be accompanied by an adult, be prepared to walk and wear closed toe shoes. Binoculars are recommended but not required. There are no rain dates. Only in the case of heavy rain or thunderstorms will the event be rescheduled. We meet at 110th and Morningside Drive across from the Avalon.
This program is underwritten by The Morningside Park Conservancy. Tickets are Free but we ask you to register so we are adequately staffed. Walk descriptions and links for tickets are below. We look forward to seeing you in the park!
